At the time this photo was taken, 18-690 was the newest 18E to arrive in Durban from Koedespoort, Pretoria. This could well be her first time out with a load, so fitting to see her as lead unit on what we know locally as the "Python" - 65 X CAR Wagons (Ore / Coal). A very late Shosholoza Meyl / Trans Natal can be seen to the left of the photo hopelessly trying to make up time to her final destination Durban, still about 1hr 45 minutes away,
