Four wheel electric cogwheel locomotive No.12 'Gsteigwiler' (just visible behind her two passenger cars) has just completed the 1,420m ascent from Wilderswil to Schynige Platte, featuring gradients as steep as 1 in 4, and traveling at an almost constant speed of 12km/h. No.12 has been working up and down this mountain since 1914 and has certainly seen much worse weather, but for a visiting Australian this blizzard in the middle of summer was quite a sight!
