The gentleman in the blue shirt wearing a moustache and standing (center) on the rear platform of Southern's "Lookout Mountain" is none other than NS CEO Wick Moorman. At the time, Wick was the division engineer on this, Southern's Appalachia Division. He lived in Big Stone Gap, and his office was in Andover. He and his track supervisor decided to "ride" the railroad from Andover to Bulls Gap to check on things, so what better way to "see the property" than from the observation deck of a westbound steam ferry trip behind Southern's leased ex-C&O Kanawha, 2716 (whose steam can be seen in the distance). The train is passing the old depot site at Duffield, VA. The other fellow is flagman Martin Stanley (on the right).
