Shenandoah Junction, WV was once a major interchange point between the Baltimore and Ohio and Norfolk Western Railroads. It was active until the interchange was moved to Hagerstown fully into the 2000's. Now the small yard and connection track lay silent, except for some parked MoW utilities. The NW CPL signal, seen here lit up by southbound 11R, guards the north end of a 1.8 mile long passing siding. The switch point and track in the foreground is the lead into the interchange yard and is lit up by a passing vehicle. Rails as old as 1946 and forged by Carnege Steel of OH can be found in the yard.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
