After the Soo/Milwaukee Road combination the Soo found itself with a much larger fleet of power...some of which it had no interest in retaining. This photo at Shoreham pretty much says it all as a lot of units were parked, either pending lease returns, mechanical issues, non standard equipment, or just surplus. The SD40-2's remained in service although the Ex Milwaukee ones were soon returned to lessor. The Soo SW's (lacking m/u)were replaced for the most part by Milwaukee SW's and MP15's. Some ex Milwaukee GP38's were retained along with a group of GP40's. The ex Milwaukee SDL39's with their export trucks were sold to WC and the Ex Milwaukee SD10's were sold to DM&E(except for three). The Ex Milwaukee GP20's went to CCP. Soo geeps stayed in service and some ended up on I&M. Also in this shot you can see a Soo GP30 and an F-unit in the distance.
