Remarks & Notes
High-speed passenger train ER200 runs from Moscow to Saint Petersburg near Klin city. ER200 was a Soviet electric train built in Riga. It was the first high-speed (200 km/h or 125 mph) DC intercity Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) in USSR. There were two designs. First in 1974 came the ER200-1 EMU, which went into commercial operation in 1984. Last run of ER200 was made in 20 february 2009. After that, it was dismissed from work and was replaced by Siemens Velaro trains "Sapsan". That increased speed on the line little. Total travel time from Moscow to Saint Petersburg increased only by 15 minutes. Unfortunately, branch of industry of high-speed trains design in Russia collapsed after breakup of the Soviet Union. Therefore, Russia is buying high-speed trains abroad.
