On a cool evening perched above the town of Welch, W.Va., finds eastbound loaded train No. 746 working east, as it crosses over highway 16 before entering the Welch Tunnel permeating the hill beneath part of the town. Part of the train is still stretched through Hemphill Tunnels No. 1 & 2, as the train wraps around the Tug Fork River Valley while journeying east on the well-known ex-N&W Pocahontas District.
