Splitting the former Northern Pacific semaphore signals at the east end of Byron siding, the last westbound Yakima Turn is headed to is namesake town. A few days after this photo was taken this mainline route from Pasco to Cle Elum would be spun off to a shortline and sold to Nick Temple and operated as the Washington Central Railroad Company for roughly ten years. As irony would have it, in 1996 BNSF would buy it back to add additional capacity in Washington state to relieve congestion on its routes over Stevens Pass and the Columbia River George.
