As Kawasaki Railcar celebrates it's 25th year of building/ maintaining railcars at it's Yonkers, NY plant, more and more new railcars continue to emerge. Their most recent, photographed here, is the new R188 railcar, which is being built for one of Kawasaki's loyal customers, the MTA. These brand new cars will soon run on MTA New York York City Transit's Flushing Line, which is well known as the 7 train. These cars are very similar to the current R142A cars which run on most IRT or "A" Division lines (numbered subway routes), but feature new upgrades such as CBTC (communication-based train control). The sets will also feature an important "extra car" to meet the 11-car minimum for the Flushing Line.
