Remarks & Notes

The freshly painted Baldwin 2-8-2 begins a new Tourist season. It has begun the climb out of Chama on a 4% grade. The posts in the house in the background are vertical and the steepness of the 4% grade is obvious. The climb to Cumbres Pass is very steep all the way up to the summit. The old Rio Grande railroad is a marvel.
