Amtrak's westbound Cardinal blasts through the interlocking at the E.E. Meadow Creek on its late evening trek through the New River Gorge. Amtrak's 40th anniversary heritage locomotives have been featured on the point on numerous occasions, though this is the first time where Amtrak's Phase IV tribute has pulled the New York to Chicago tri-weekly train.
Powerful members of Congress once helped this scenic state get levels of service not seen elsewhere. Now the Capitol Limited and Cardinal are all that remain.
