Remarks & Notes
At 9:35 at on a Saturday night, track workers waive at 45699 Galatea as it approaches Orlando Bridge, Bolton on its journey returning with its support coach to its home base at Carnforth after working a railtour. This loco has only recently had its restoration completed. It was withdrawn from service in the 1960s and has been in scrapyard condition for most of the time since. One of the driving wheels had even been cut through with a gas axe when it had become derailed in the scrapyard! West Coast railways have completely restored the loco and it is now running main line rail tours. As it cruised past, it sounded as smooth as a sewing machine.
