| On a damp and humid summer evening in the Kanawha Valley, original Southern high hood GP38-2 No. 5043 idles on the pit track at Nitro, silhouetted against the fading evening light. Some of Norfolk Southern's former Southern GP38-2 high hoods have been repainted in recent years, with NS 5043 displaying a relatively spotless paint job. |
