Railway Enthusiasts Society ran a trip to celebrate biannual Whangamomona Republic Day with streamlined Ka 942. It is seen here departing Whangamomona on the Stratford to Okahukura Line. This line traverses extremely rugged terrain and passes through 24 tunnels.
Railway Enthusiasts Society has operated rail excursions around NZ since 1958, some steam hauled using rolling stock from Glenbrook Vintage Railway which it established in 1970's near Auckland. See www.railfan.org.nz
