| Mixed manifest train from Wellington to Auckland emerges from tunnel 6. The lead locomotive is in old Tranz Rail livery but DX 5137 and 30 class electric being towed to Palmerston North have new paint jobs. The gradient is about 2% and south-bound trains often have extra power attached at Paekakariki. |
