Originally owned by the Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis, passed on to Louisville & Nashville, purchased by the Clinchfield Railroad, and eventually purchased by Clinchfield Coal Company, CCO 014 was used as a tipple switcher for pulling the long strings of hoppers under the loaders so that they could be loaded more efficiently. In the photo, CCO 014 is in Erwin receiving routine maintenance from its owner's primary coal shipper, the Clinchfield Railroad. 35mm slide from my collection, photo by Arnie Burchardt.
An attempt to put the best picture of engines that represent each of America's railroads. When a better picture of an engine/type is found, it will be added.
