History on a hardhat. We're on the former Galveston, Houston and Henderson Railroad right-of-way. The GHH was chartered in 1853, and through mergers and acquisitions became the joint property of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas and Missouri Pacific railroads. The supervisor's hardhat bears a Safety First sticker in the shape of Katy's logo. Next to it, a Union Pacific label, which absorbed the MoP in 1982. In May '86, the Katy has only another 14 months of independence before it, too, is rolled into the UP fold.
