Remarks & Notes
Santa Fe train 865, THE WHIRLWIND, approaches Texico, New Mexico, on the New Mexico-Texas, border, on March 16, 1974, with MP GP35s 618, 625, and C&EI GP40 660. The 865 was a joint Santa Fe-MP manifest train originating at Barstow, California, and destined for the Southeast. Santa Fe interchanged the train to the MP at Sweetwater, Texas. The WHIRLWIND usually had MP diesels east of Clovis, New Mexico.
