Remarks & Notes
What are these guys doing? They are closing one of only a few manually hand-cranked swing bridges still in operation in America, the South River Drawbridge. Built in 1910 and formerly part of the Raritan River Railroad (RRRR) mainline the bridge is usually kept in the open position to accommodate for river traffic. Two to three times a week, however, the bridge is closed so that covered hoppers can be delivered to Mauser in the Highview Industrial Park and on occasion to Silverline Windows in North Brunswick, NJ. Long live Mauser and Silverline!
