Derailment of a Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn train near Mörel, on the journey towards Brig and Visp, due to a grade crossing accident. A delivery truck had traveled on the private road, which was signaled with a general ban, over the unguarded railway crossing as the train approached from Mörel. Due to the collision, the second bogie of the leading cab car was pushed out of the track, the second (brand new B 4213, only a week in service) low-floor car overturned, the third car also derailed with two bogies but remained upright at an angle, electric railcar Deh 4/4 # 52 in the rear derailed with the first bogie. 11 of the 41 passengers in the train were slightly to moderate injured, train driver and driver of the van were uninjured.
