VIA Train 3 took the siding to allow an eastbound freight to hold the freshly-ballasted mainline at Decoigne, Alta., July 29, 1981. F unit 6509 carries the first of Canada's edict for trains to have ditch lights, an idea that was eventually adopted in USA.
