CP SD40 5979 is on the point of VIA’s westbound 15-car Train 1 after helping it up grade from Calgary to Stephen, B.C. where the train is now at M.P. 123 and about to plunge down Kicking Horse Pass through CP’s famous spiral tunnels. It has met an eastbound freight which has three helpers on the rear and mysteriously two cabooses coupled behind an empty flat car. The caboose crew gives No. 1 a roll-by inspection on Aug. 13, 1981.
