Montana Rail Link’s 840 local arrives at Sappington, Montana, on September 12, 2011. Two rebuilt SD40s that MRL classifies as SD40-2XRs power the train which is traveling along the abandoned Milwaukee Road Pacific Extension, seen to the left of the train. The local is on the Fifth Subdivision, which is part of the former NP route over Homestake Pass into Butte, and will head back to Logan after switching the talc plant here.
