Remarks & Notes
Salvage company Carney & Hancock workers transload a damaged FGDA covered hopper, moving the corn from the railcar to truck. This was in RI's Short Line Yard in Des Moines, IA back in the summer of 1978. The car was probably damaged in a derailment, of which the RI suffered many during these turbulent times in their history. This was taken from the overhead iron walk-bridge which spanned the Rock Island yard, which has since been removed. Note the upper right of the photo is a bit hazy from grain dust. Taken on 120 Ektachrome (EPR) with 75mm Schneider lens on a Rolleiflex 3.5F TLR camera.
