At this late date just a year before Amtrak, UP’s overnight “Butte Special” from Salt Lake City carried a coach and a unique “American series” sleeping car which had a small kitchen and two booths for seating and dining. On its own stub track at Butte, Montana depot, it awaits its 7:30 departure back to SLC while Northern Pacific (now BN) Geep 291 idles on April 10, 1970.
