| The Northwest: While a big chunk of Montana is part of the Great Plains, the state's geography takes on a much different personality west of the Continental Divide. Northwest Montana, especially the area around Glacier National Park, seems more Pacific Northwest than Great Plains. That Northwest scenery was on full display as Canadian Pacific No. 8829 led a westbound BNSF Railway manifest through the lush landscape along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River in August 2014. |
