Remarks & Notes
The Roger Blough is at Dock 2 taking on a cargo of pellets from the stockpile. Dock No. 6 at the bottom was taken out of service in 1963 on "Black Friday" when the Missabe shut down Two Harbors. The reason was that the last underground mines were shutting down on the Vermilion Range and overall tonnage was way down. They (Missabe) wanted to consolidate operations through Proctor/Duluth, which was handling far more ore. The advent of taconite and the faster ship turn-around times out of Two Harbors brought the port back to life in 1966 but when the port reopened a couple years later only the larger No. 1 and No. 2 docks were placed back in service. The Missabe tug Edna G. tug is visible directly above the boat on the other side of dock 1. Former Yellowstone #229 is also slightly visible above right of the Edna G.
