A long day of photography on October 3 had a perfect start at 2:36 am when New England Central Railroad's St. Albans to Palmer, Massachusetts freight - 324-02 - rolled along the shore of Mud Pond in Roxbury, Vermont. Some concerning moments as the train made a meet with northbound 323-02 at Roxbury Siding. Fog began rolling steadily into the area and the southbound had to stop and align a switch, as well as get a track warrant. I watched as the fog descended on the area and wondered if the setup this night would be for naught. Fortunately the train began rolling before the fog (seen illuminated in the sky) made a full blanket of the area. NECR 324 was led by NECR SD40T-2 3317, CSO SD40-2 3771 and NECR SD40M-2 2680.
