U101 crosses the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park on the Nashville Terminal Subdivision. The park which is located on the north side of the State Capital Building was built in celebration of the Tennessee Bicentennial which occurred on June 1, 1996. The 200-foot granite state map below the bridge features the major roadways, rivers, railroads, and prominent cities within the state.
Not only known as Music City, USA, Nashville served as a major junction for the Louisville and Nashville, Tennessee Central, and Nashville, Chattanooga, and St. Louis as well as through service for a host of other railroads.
