The next-to-the-last Amtrak train to arrive into Norfolk sits in the station. It would be the last train to leave Norfolk the next day. The train was a two-year, D.O.T. experimental route. Named "The Mountaineer", it operated from March 25, 1975, until May 31, 1977.
