Remarks & Notes
This was the usual power for the Lorraine heavy industry trains. These engines were nicknamed flatirons. They had been designed and built for the first major 25KV-50Hz electrification in the north of France between Valenciennes and Thionville, in 1955. This AC voltage was a major progress and a revolution as compared with the usual 1.5KV DC already in service elsewhere. The technology was not fully mastered and stable, thus each series of engines was equipped with different electric components to convert, redress and adjust voltage, and different types of traction motors.
