On a bright, beautiful Sunday afternoon, Ex Amtrack hopper cars sit in Elberton, Ga on long since abandoned trackage. The weekend had been especially interesting and exiting for me because I got the privilege to ride the entire length of highway 17 which starts in Toccoa, Ga, and ends in Elberton just a mile or so from this location. Thus being the entire stretch of the Hartwell railroad. 17 follows the line parallel all the way. I must say, just the 58 mile truck ride was a real treat!
