Remarks & Notes
This is the cab of the 2005, leading KCT Train 505. Not much has changed in here since it was a Santa Fe unit. It is still turbocharged, and still has the siren type alerter installed. This unit started life as ATSF 1149 in October 1961, builder number 26855, frame number 7609-25. Renumbered 3149 during the system renumbering project of 1970. It was rebuilt in March 1981 as 3049. After the merger, to BNSF 2034 June 1998. It was later sold to Midwest Locomotive, becoming MWLX 2034 in 2002. To Watco's KCTL as WAMX 2005 and repainted into the yellow "banana" paint scheme in 2007. On this job, a majority of the moves are made on signal indication, so the base unit on the engine is kept on the KCT road channel 6060, and the pack set hanging from the radio belt is on yard channel 8080. I learned that little radio belt hanger trick from an old head engineer I used to ride with on a yard job in my hometown 15 years ago.

Roundhouses, waiting rooms, offices, platforms, carpeted aisles, and other places. One catches these at their trade, both on and off the clock.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
