The crew has arrived and is getting Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line GP38-2 5260 ready for the day's work at Berkley Yard in Chesapeake, Virginia, on January 20th, 2015. Built by EMD in February 1973 as Penn Central 8044, this engine became Conrail 8044 when the PC was merged with many other northeastern railroads in 1976. When Conrail itself was split between CSX and NS in 1999, this engine became Norfolk Southern 5260, who later reassigned it to the NPBL - and repainted it into NPBL's traditional paint scheme. Photographed on railroad property with permission and full PPE.
