Remarks & Notes
"Just like flyin..." - Local crew 82M crawls westbound across Big Lawson Trestle with an empty unit coal train bound for Alpha Natural Resources Tom's Creek facility just north of Coeburn, VA. At 150' high, a 4 degree bend, 1.6% upgrade climb at center-bridge and aging, Big Lawson Trestle is the last of four ex-N&W high trestles moving west from St. Paul to Coeburn, VA. This crew eases the 105 cars across the high trestle at less than 10mph, speeds not uncommon to the crews on Norfolk Southern's Lower Clinch Valley District.
