Reunited in Roanoke
After much fanfare over the past month, Norfolk & Western 611 sits quietly with its firebox still warm alongside its Roanoke-built sisters at the Virginia Museum of Transportation. 611 is fresh off of its first passenger excursion tour in 15 years and its fire has been put out so that the locomotive can be put on public display at VMT. With 611 home and 2156 recently added to the VMT collection, the museum's yard is now home to all three classes of locomotives that were built by the N&W right in the city of Roanoke. |
