Remarks & Notes
What could be finer than lunch in a dome diner as Union Pacific’s “City of Los Angeles” Train 103 passed through Laramie, Wyo. and an 8500-hp gas turbine was idling in the yard. This was May 11, 1968, 99 years and one day after the completion of this first transcontinental railroad at Promontory, Utah, and quite a comparison to this image.
