Remarks & Notes
In a scene that would normally read something like "765 leans into a curve...", I have to disclose that the opposite is happening here, as 765 is actually backing the auxuliary water car and tool car into the East Wayne Yard. Here, the locomotive will couple to 7 coal gons - one equipped with a crane - and the remainder of the train that will eventually be the passenger consist for the Ashtabula to Youngstown runs the following weekend. As in evidenced here with a long tele shot, 765 is sporting a new coal bunker extension, enhancing the coal carrying capacity by around six tons....thus eliminating the need for diesel assistance. Many times in recent years, locomotives such as 765 which posses plenty of horsepower for the relatively short trains they're hauling, are assisted by diesels that provide a boost mainly for fuel (coal) saving measures. It was hoped that the slight physical change of adding a removable coal bunker extension would more than be made up for by steam-powered trains not having a diesel in the consist. I tend to agree.
