Amtrak’s most dilapidated station received a minor makeover as part of the set design for the movie “Matewan”, but that makeover did not include a new coat of paint. Instead, a simulated weatherworn Matewan station sign replaced the Thurmond sign. I have to think that most passengers getting off of the train in Thurmond are probably locals, but I wonder if the mislabeled station ever caused any passenger confusion.
