Remarks & Notes
The Tauernbahn runs over the Tauern massive between Schwarzach in Pongau and Spittal/Milstattersee. It is part of one of the most important north-south routes in Europe, the gateway to the Balkans. Built as standard gauge single track line, 79km long and climbs from 580m up to 1220m a.s.l. Trains reach the summit when running through the 8,371m long Tauern-tunnel.
