Remarks & Notes
My first time seeing the Norfolk & Western 611 ply the rails was an experience that I'll never forget. After chasing the mighty "J" on her test run from Greensboro, NC and back, I caught her her from the last time of the day at the Salisbury wye. Just a few minutes after this photo was taken, the 611 encountered a slight problem. In 2014, the rails on the South leg of the wye had been replaced, and had apparently tightened the radius of the curve. While making a reverse move, the "J" became entangled with her tender, but fortunately there wasn't and damage thanks to the slow speed and watchful eyes of the crew. The crew would end up pulling forward and making a reverse move back toward the museum.
