Fall Foliage hides the former Rahway Valley Railroad's 93 foot trestle across the Rahway River, linking Union and Springfield. This structure has not seen a train in nearly 30 years. The trestle was constructed in 1905 as part of the railroad's extension to Summit. The last train to roll across the bridge was during the mid 1980s, when service to the last customer on the Summit extension, Carter-Bell Ink, closed their doors. Plans to reactive rail service two decades later failed due to a funding shortage
