Portland & Western's nocturnal Harbor Turn (featured in an article in Railfan & Railroad earlier this year) ferries logs and lumber products from the lower Willamette Valley to a reload facility along the Columbia River. The 71 car train is seen coasting through North Plains on a Fall night with engineer Matt Keene hamming it up for the camera.
A huge thanks to fellow contributor Matt Adams for helping arrange this shoot with the Harbor Turn and my best friend Aj Mastaw for assistance with lighting. They made waiting four hours in near freezing temps quite worth it. |
