Remarks & Notes
I had grand plans this afternoon to catch the eastbound California Zephyr as it rounded the curve at Crescent amid snow-laden pines with a glorious sunset over the continental divide in the background. But clouds moved in as the sun sank toward the horizon, and that plan was busted. So instead I opted to scramble up the slippery rock outcropping near Pinecliffe. Not wanting to shoot the same "looking down on train" shot I've done from here before, I searched for a new composition. Before long the short train was gliding between rocky walls far below me, the snow cover deadening the sounds but enhancing the colors as passengers no doubt looked out their windows, enjoying the scenery in the fading evening light.

America's Passenger Train. While some feel passenger equipment now looks all the same, the scenery is still breath taking and the locomotives and equipment look great.

An ongoing and growing collection of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome, but seldom seen beauty of the railroad world because most of us don't get out after sundown. From dusk to dawn, lights are on! (And I continue to find new "Lights In The Night"!)
