In town with the KCS Christmas train which is over by the station, KCS 1 and the Southern Belle business train rest outside of Kansas City Union Station on 12/17/2015. In the background, Amtrak train #3, the Southwest Chief has just pulled in, right on time, and the Missouri River Runner is just behind it, ready for its next trip to St. Louis. If you look closely, you'll see that #3 is running with one of the new Viewliner baggage cars, a recent addition to the consist.
Regardless, this certainly isn't the first time the Chief and Belle have shared tracks at KCUS, and it surely won't be the last.
