The typical power for the Santa Fe Local that worked most days between Richmond and Christie, California was a pair of Santa Fe GPs. (the Local still runs today as the BNSF 011 Local). However, on April 14, 1995, one GP and one B40-8 was assigned (2756 and 7415). A GE on the local was extremely rare, so it was worth it for me to hike through the cut at Collier and photograph the Local working the Tosco carbon plant at the east end of Collier. Here the local is about to back down the steep grade to the plant.
Looking back down memory lane at the last generation of GE spartan cab which includes the six axles C series and four axles B series throughout the various of Class 1 Railroads in North America throughout the years.
