CR 6661, a former Erie-Lackawanna SD45-2 suns itself outside Juniata Shops at Altoona, PA in October 1982. A recession in the U.S. had slowed rail traffic and there were a number of these units stored here at this time. Mate 6657 gives a hint of its previous owner as the relatively new blue paint is already peeling off. Note the large fuel tanks that E-L had favored on late model locos in order to reduce re-fueling on New York area-Chicago hotshots.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
