Remarks & Notes
Arriving at Sublette. A D&RGW Flanger outfit is seen here arriving at the remote Section House in Sublette around mid-afternoon. This complex of buildings was historically occupied by a section crew, which was responsible for the maintenance of the track in this remote area of the line in the Carson National Forest. Fortunately, the Friends of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad have done much to stabilize and restore this complex of wooden structures so that future generations will be able to see and appreciate the hardships that the crews maintaining this railroad faced, particularly in the winter.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are all that remains of the legendary Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge system. Here you'll find some of my favorites from these two beautiful railways.
