| With the cool of the evening settling in over the Tehachapi mountains the normality of a Friday evening in downtown Tehachapi is greeted by the roar of eastbound BNSF tonnage, pulling the grade through downtown Tehachapi. Bent on the summit the eastbound train streaks beneath the old SP cantilever signal bridge with the Tehachapi depot/museum and water tank in the background. The cantilever was retired from service and removed from its long time home in May 2013 as new tri-light signals were cut in between Cable and Eric. Thankfully the classic cantilever was saved from the scrap pile and is now apart of a private collection of Tehachapi searchlights. |
