After a flat-out high speed burn from Flagstaff (Located at the base of Mt. Elden, the rounded lava dome on the left) of speeds at 90 MPH. Here we see Amtrak's Train #4, the Southwest Chief drops from its maximum authorized speed mentioned above for a 50 mph crossover to go from Main Two to Main One (then a turnout to stay on M1) to pull up to the front door of the La Posada Hotel. Along with Mt. Elden, the backdrop is dominated with the San Francisco Peaks. The Peaks, which are made up of most notably Humphreys Peak (12,633 ft), Agassiz Peak (12,356 feet) ring a giant volcanic caldera created in a similar explosion to Mt. St. Helens' famous 1980 eruption.
